Outside Fun

We apologize for the delay in blogging once again.  The heat outside has taken Mommy's desire to do ANYTHING to non existent.  :)

Last week we had a lot of fun though.  Like every day.  We started off with a Monday trip to the river with friends.  Our friends, the Smiths, were moving and this was our last chance to play!

And then on Tuesday we had a few more friends over for a small water fight.

And then we hid in the house with our air conditioner on.  It's been SO HOT!!

Veyo Pool

After our fun at the lake, we also decided to have fun up at Veyo Pool with Grandpa.  We got there early and didn't realize that we weren't supposed to be swimming yet because it wasn't open to the public and inadvertently participated for about five minutes in someone's family reunion.  We went and hung out with Grandpa and everybody in the climbing area instead!

Which of course meant that I got harnessed up and tried climbing Fly Soup.  My second attempt was MUCH better than my first.

And once again because I was brave enough.  Cara was brave enough. She did great!

The little twin boys also came up and hung out.  Their first climbing experience.  Okay so they mostly slept.

The Lake and Swimmer's Itch....

Sorry about the pause in blogging.  Mommy went to Girls Camp with our church and didn't have time to blog before she left.  Last week we went to Sand Hollow with Grandpa and Grandma.  We were so excited to go because we haven't really been on the boat much or even to the lake!  We had a GREAT time.  I was brave and willing to jump in and swim in the water with Mommy and even Cara got brave enough!

I even got out on the wake surf board!  Basically I just knee boarded, but Grandpa forgot to bring me the actual knee board.  I'm getting pretty good.  Uncle Phil was awesome and hung out with me and held the rope.

Of course as awesome of day as we had, there was a price that had to be paid.  Even without setting foot on the beach or in the warm shallow water, we got swimmer's itch.  I was covered.  So was Uncle Marty.  Cara and Grandpa even had a few spots.  We were itchy and speckley for almost a week!  Mommy had to keep telling everyone I didn't have chicken pox.  In fact, I woke up the next morning and told her that I had chicken pox when I saw my spots.

We will give it a few weeks and then go back.  Hopefully the swimmer's itch will have gone away in the lake.  Fingers crossed.

Swim Lesson Wrap Up

Okay maybe not a complete wrap up, seeing as how it's only half way thru June and according to the Druids, summer doesn't even start for 6 days.  However, we are done with swim lessons at least for a little bit.

But look at how far Cara has come.  Actually first let me say, Cara was a little bit scared of the water.  She really didn't want to go where she couldn't touch not even when someone held her.  So now look at how far Cara has come:

I was able to hone my swimming skills a little more.  I started learning different strokes and diving in deeper water to get my dive rings.  I tend to surprise people with how well I actually swim because I don't keep my head very far above water.

So now we are REALLY ready for all our summer swimming fun.  Thanks, Shayli!

A very wet visit...

Yay! Our Preslar cousins came to see us again!  Can I tell you that we love our cousins?  Even Chase who is so much bigger than us.  We love to see them.  Cara even talks to Uncle Troy now.  Of course on this trip we hardly saw Uncle Troy because he was doing some crazy relay with his bike that involved a lot of grown men crying.  Okay maybe not crying.  Groaning.

The kids however just kept ourselves wet all weekend.  They arrived on Friday night and we ran in the sprinklers.  Then Saturday we woke up and went to the city pool and tried out the new hydrotube.  Both Cara and I were very brave and it was very the first thing we did.  I think having Daddy helped our confidence.  They changed the hydrotube so that it's in the dark.  They blacked it out and just have a tiny strip of light down the middle of the top.  Cara and I LOVED it and begged to go again and again.  Mommy had to fight off a panic attack every time she went down.  So weird.

After hours of fun at the city pool, we headed home for some down time.  Which ended with us in swim suits again playing in our inflatable pool.  Hey it was 100+ degrees each day.  Water was a must!

That is the only picture Mommy took the whole time.  She just enjoyed talking to Aunt Rachel.  We can't wait to head north and play with them again.

What do you do in the summer time?

One of Mommy's favorite primary songs ask the question "Oh what do you do in the summer time, when all the world is green?"  She loves it because she loves summer.  And what DO you do in the summer time when all the world seems to be hitting triple digits?

You swim of course!  And we have been swimming.  A lot.

We got our inflatable pool that is PERFECT for big splashes and for Cara to work on swimming underwater!

Uncle Marty and Aunt Hailey got the pool working at their house:

We like to get all the cousins together to swim!

But the babies just end up sleeping!  That's 10 lb baby boys and 20 lb baby girl...

And excuse the naughty picture, but Mommy told Cara to go pee in the grass and this is what she did!

We get in a pool at least twice a day because of swim lessons.  Our skin and hair might be suffering a bit, but hey! It's summer!

Sunday Sillyness

So on Saturday Cara and I woke up to our mom with straight hair.  We both clearly had never remembered seeing her hair like that because Cara saw her first and actually went and found me to show me Mom's hair.  And then we both kinda stared at her for 10 minutes.  And then she let us PLAY with it.  We loved it.  We loved it so much we begged to have our hair straightened too!  Mom agreed to do it for church on Sunday.

Turns out, our hair prefers to be curly and you can still see that it's trying to keep the curls!!  But we've enjoyed being silly.

And on a different note, check out the note I wrote during church:

To translate the block lettering (that I did by MYSELF entirely): Here is a cat, I like to look at princesses.

Pretty awesome right?
