A very long night and a day

Do you know what these are? I hope you don't. Because if you do that means you know somebody or have been the unfortunate person to have a kidney stone. One of these is trying to kill my daddy. It all started at about midnight last night. He was doubled over in pain and apparently waiting to die while mommy slept downstairs completely unaware. Finally at two am he heard me start crying and mommy go in to my room. He came down and BEGGED her for help. What makes this story really dramatic, is that daddy does not have health insurance! So he and mommy sat by my bedside (well mommy sat, daddy writhed on the ground) and discussed their options. Mommy got the brilliant idea to put a heat pack on the place on daddy's tummy where it hurt. This knocked the pain in half and they were both able to grab about three hours of sleep. Daddy still hurt in the morning, but he was really trying to tough it out. But the kidney stone was tougher. We all went down to St. Mark's Emergency Room at exactly 9:00 a.m. We didn't leave until almost exactly 1:00 p.m. despite my repeated usage of the word home.

The E.R. was very upsetting for me. I did NOT like them putting an I.V. in my daddy or even them asking him for a urine sample. I was actually pretty good for the majority of the time though. I got to watch Super Why, Word World, Clifford, Martha Speaks and Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman.

Daddy was kind of a complicated patient too. He didn't present with the tell tale signs of a kidney stone. The pain wasn't radiating or even coming from the usual places! So he ended up having to get his first CT scan. Again, I did NOT like that. I cried (screamed) the whole time he was gone. Mommy cried too because she's pregnant, stressed, and sleep deprived. The poor nurse and rad tech kept trying to tell mommy it was nothing serious. Mommy knew that, but those dang hormones refuse to let an emotion get stopped in its tracks!

The happy ending to this story is that the meds they gave daddy in the hospital made him feel MUCH better and his stone is only 4 mm big so it should pass on its own. We also have some very good drugs available at home now. We even went swimming at the pool this afternoon. Yeah! I hope Daddy NEVER has to do this again.

"Tie"

This is "Tie". I picked him up at Lagoon! Mommy and Daddy got him in exchange for their locker key. Cool, huh? The best part about Tie is that I actually love him. I tuck him under my arm next to me when I go to sleep. I've never been big on having a "lovey" or anything and so this is a first. Mommy and Daddy like him because he looks so much like Hobbes. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up having the same crazy adventures with my Tie as Calvin did with his Hobbes.

Fun in St. George

Well we've had fun here in St. George! Mommy and I will head home today. I think we'd stay another 7 months if we could. Grandma and Grandpa have a boat and a pool in their backyard. What more could I want? I had fun riding on the tube behind the boat and watching everybody wakeboard and wake surf. We didn't manage to take a camera to the lake so no actual pictures of our fun adventures. We also celebrated Father's Day with Grandpa. That was a good yummy excuse for CostCo's Seven Layer Chocolate Cake.

My Daddy luckily got his Father's Day present two weeks early. We got him an Ipod Shuffle. Not the new one that he would lose because it is so small, but a nice blue one. It's so he doesn't have to use his big heavy old school Ipod when he runs and races. Go, Daddy!

Uncle Marty is here!

My Uncle Marty and his girlfriend Hailey are here visiting. Yeah! I was completely giddy at the sight of them and enjoyed playing outside in the backyard and then jumping on my bed with them! And today we went to Lagoon! Mommy and I couldn't stay as long as Uncle Marty, Hailey, and Daddy because Mommy had doctor's appointment for my baby sister. As Daddy said...all they really did was confirm that she was still pregnant and let me assure you, I could have told you that! But I had so much fun at the water park and Mommy even got to ride Puff the Magic Dragon and a couple other rides with me. Here are some picture highlights.

Long Week...

Well it's been a long week. The rain and thunderstorms persisted including a spectacular one on Saturday that had never ending thunder for probably 20 minutes. We finally got a couple of days with just a few sprinkles and some sun! Maybe Mommy will get to take me to the pool soon!

It was also a long week because I got sick. I had a raging fever and seemed to be fine during the day hours but by evening and during the night I would just kind of moan. Mommy and Daddy felt very bad for me. I even went and met a new pediatrician. Finally. Mommy only put that off for long enough! The fevers lasted for almost 5 days and got really high, but I'm all better now! And I'm looking forward to seeing Uncle Marty and Hailey on Friday. We're going to Lagoon! And then on Saturday, I'm driving down to Grandma and Grandpa's house! Yeah! Can't wait!

Rain Rain Go AWAY!

Mommy has the pregnancy blahs. But they're not really because of her pregnancy. On the contrary, it's because of her usual reason...THE WEATHER. It teased Mommy. There were bouts of sunshine and days warm enough to go the pool. Only problem was that EVERYTHING related to summer up here doesn't open up until all the schools let out. That meant waiting until THIS week. Well guess what? Have you seen the forecast? It's been thunderstorms or clouds and cooler weather (nothing above 75, heinous in Mommy's opinion) for 2 stinkin weeks. That's right. No clear sunshine on the forecast. Now that the Murray pool is finally open for the summer. As Mommy sits and types this, it is POURING rain. There were some impressive lightening strikes to accompany the rain, but that's only a small consolation as we have these little thunderstorms EVERY NIGHT. Hopefully, Daddy gets home from his bike ride soon. He's going to be soaked and hopefully not hit by the lightening.

Mommy disclaimer: It IS very cute to watch Siena play in the rain and I know that there plenty of people out there who are VERY dependent on rain to make their living. To them I say, I am sorry. I still don't like the rain. Also I apologize for not uploading an actual image of the forecast, I am not that good with blogger.

She's Here!

Not my baby sister, but Aunt Rachel's baby came! She was only just over a week late, but we're sure glad she finally made her appearance. Baby Emma weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 19 inches long. YEAH! Congrats to the Preslars!
I tried to steal the baby when we went to visit. I was very very loving and just wanted to be in charge of the baby. Looks like Mommy is going to have some competition for being the Mommy when baby sister comes!

Upping the ante!

So Mommy has a few goals for June. It's going to be a big month for me. We're going to work on keeping me in MY room all night....mommy and daddy will still come lie in my bed with me to help me calm down even if it is 3 am. July will be about just getting me to not wake up once during the night. (If we don't get that done by July I might be waking the baby up which my grandma will tell you is only fair because she was worried about that with my mommy!)

And our second goal is to really step up the potty training. I seem to know when I need to go, but if I'm wearing a diaper or pull ups...I just don't care. If I'm naked, I act kind of funny or stick towels between my legs before promptly peeing on the floor. So for the month of June I'm going to start wearing big girl panties! We went and bought some today. I have some Tinker Bell and then some boys underwear because apparently only little boys are in to Toy Story, Nemo, Wall-E, and the Incredibles. (HELLO! Unfair.) The lady at the checkout stand thought Mommy had a little boy at home and was completely confused at why I would want to wear boy underwear...as if I even know the difference!

I did seem very excited by my underwear, I carried around the Tinker Bell underwear all through 3 stores! And then when we got home, I insisted on putting on all 10 pairs.




That's where the easy part stops. Mommy left me in my Nemo underwear all through my nap and even for several hours after and I didn't pee at all! She let me go naked for a little while and I still didn't pee. I sat on the potty probably 6 different times. No pee. Finally in a moment of desperation, I cried out as I let the pee escape all over the floor, minutes after getting off the potty. Turns out, I don't want to pee unless I'm wearing a diaper. This could be a long month for Mommy and Daddy and the floors in the house.
